Invited residencies, archival research and writing support

2023 Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (EQZE), San Sebastián, Spain — Invited Filmmaker residency in the photochemical laboratory. Projects: Vitanuova and Animalia Paradoxa. Film developing, digital-to-film transfers, film-to-digital transfers and collaborative laboratory work with students in the school’s master’s-level programmes. Laboratory Coordinator: Asier Armental. Developing and digitization collaborators: Celeste Rojas Mugica, Luis Esguerra and Laura Óliver. The residency combined film work with practical exchange with students.

2020 La Prévôté / ALCA Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Bordeaux, France; Biarritz Amérique Latine — Screenwriting laureate for La muñeca de fuego / The Fire Doll. Awarded residency support; writing continued remotely after cancellation of the physical stay.

2011–2012 Binger FilmLab Writer’s Lab, Amsterdam, Netherlands — Grant-supported, five-month screenwriting residency for Rey, September 2011–January 2012. Screenplay development ran alongside research into the beginnings of cinema and early filmmaking practices.

2011–2012 EYE Film Institute Netherlands, Amsterdam, and Lobster Films, Paris — Archival research into early cinema undertaken during the Binger residency and development of Rey. Research at EYE’s national film archive and at Lobster Films complemented the screenplay’s development.

2023–2024 Celulo-ia — Researcher in a CORFO-supported Pista B project with Lucas Engel, Felipe Elgueta and Juan Cifuentes. Investigation of artificial intelligence, film archives, celluloid restoration and laboratory practice, including comparative, in-person research at WORM Filmwerkplaats in Rotterdam; Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (EQZE) in San Sebastián; the archive and laboratory of the Cineteca Nacional de Chile in Santiago; EYE Film Institute / EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, with a guided investigation of film-restoration methods and storage of historical film stock; Haghefilm in Amsterdam; and LABO in Mexico City.
